William "Bill" O'Connell, LC,LEED,AP
Bill O’Connell has more than 20 years of experience in the lighting industry. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Optics from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology along with a minor in Computer Science and a German Technical Translators Certificate. In 2009, Bill earned both the NCQLP’s LC certification and the LEED AP certification from the US Green Building Council.
Bill began his career with OSRAM SYLVANIA at their automotive lighting plant as an Optical Engineer. He then transferred to the general lighting division’s halogen lamp plant where he was awarded two patents, a design patent and a technical patent, for the creation of OSRAM SYLVANIA’s SPL optical system. Bill later held positions at OSRAM SYLVANIA in Application Engineering, Product Marketing, and as a Specification Engineer.
In 2017, Bill joined Eaton Corporation's Lighting Division (formerly Copper Lighting) as a Regional Specification Sales Manager, calling on Eaton's rep agencies in the northeast and on specifiers to specify Eaton products in lighting designs and projects.

- Bill began his career with OSRAM SYLVANIA at their automotive lighting plant in Seymour, IN as an optical engineer designing optical systems for car headlamps, tail lamps and turn signals. He then transferred to the general lighting division’s halogen lamp plant in Winchester, KY where he was awarded two patents, a design patent and a technical patent, for the creation of OSRAM SYLVANIA’s SPL optical system.
- After a brief return to automotive design, Bill joined the marketing team for halogen lamps at OSRAM SYLVANIA’s corporate headquarters in Danvers, MA. Here he held positions in Application Engineering and Product Marketing working with incandescent, halogen and fluorescent light sources.
- In 2008, Bill became a Specification Engineer with OSRAM SYLVANIA, working in the field with lighting designers, engineering firms, rep agent firms, distributors, and utilities. His role is to educate the market on new products and lighting industry issues while encouraging the specification of OSRAM SYLVANIA lighting products.
